The Ontario Energy Board's natural-gas franchise map records no franchise area here, and under the Municipal Franchises Act a distributor cannot construct or operate works to supply gas in an Ontario municipality without a franchise by-law the OEB has approved — so there is no distributor authorised to serve it. Laird is also absent from both registers of where gas is currently being extended: Ontario's Natural Gas Expansion Program (Phases 1 and 2) and Enbridge's own list of community-expansion projects.
