The township's own Services page lists its municipal services in full — disposal site, joint landfill tickets, library, dog control and tags, tax certificates, hall rental — and there is no water or sewer among them; its Power and Utilities page names only Algoma Power, for electricity; and its tax FAQ sets out four instalments with no water or sewer levy. Population 573 over a large rural township in the District of Algoma, where every immediate neighbour that has been resolved (Laird, St. Joseph, Johnson, Plummer Additional, Hilton, Jocelyn, Huron Shores, Prince, The North Shore) is likewise no-municipal-service. Households are on private wells and septic; Algoma Public Health is the authority for both. NOTE ON THE NAME: Statistics Canada calls this municipality 'Tarbutt and Tarbutt Additional' while the township itself operates as 'Township of Tarbutt', which is why this record existed but attached to no municipality — it was NOT a missing record, it was a stranded one. The Ontario Energy Board's natural-gas franchise map records no franchise area here, and under the Municipal Franchises Act a distributor cannot construct or operate works to supply gas in an Ontario municipality without a franchise by-law the OEB has approved — so there is no distributor authorised to serve it. Tarbutt and Tarbutt Additional is also absent from both registers of where gas is currently being extended: Ontario's Natural Gas Expansion Program (Phases 1 and 2) and Enbridge's own list of community-expansion projects.
